Photo image uploading websites have been popular on the Internet since its inception, but a unique "Hollywood" oriented variation, one of file sharing communities exclusively devoted to uploads of individual photos with celebrities, has become more popular in recent months. Led by launches of such sites as www.99celebrities.com, the new wave combines file sharing, social media and intersections with celebrity culture into one common portal. Photos may range from standard "me and the politician," pro athlete or actor event stills of a pedestrian nature, to amateur paparazzi shots, to professional level pictures and videos. To position itself in this new market, the emerging industry site www.99celebrities.com asserts it is "the right place where you can upload your photos with celebrities!" The site boasts some stars, such as Kevin Costner, have been more easy to take pictures with that others. Unlike some versions of this type of celebrity photo sites, the emphasis is not primarily about controversies relating to the stars caught on camera, nor on selling or the commercial use of the photo was taken. Emphasis is placed on the friendliness displayed by public figures towards taking photos of themselves with fans. It is unclear at this time whether intellectual property or other issues will arise from the simple display of the photos. Some photo sites will emphasize particular hot celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Michael Douglas, Adam Sandler, or other current favorites of the fan taking the images. The approach of the more social oriented sites is random, however, which adds to the casual atmosphere created by the websites hosting pictures of this kind. One member of humanity meeting famous humanity tends to be the most common theme, with no attempt to idolize the star attempted beyond pointing out they took the picture with the fan. Nor is reporting of current gossip relating to the star is made in relation to the photos taken. Photos-with-celebrities upload sites are expected to proliferate over the next few years, with the current crop including 99celebrities and others maturing into industry leaders. They are expected to be sustained by a steady stream of search image traffic coming in from Google and its competitors, and from celebrities'own names acting as keyword magnets to draw interested parties to the sites. Emmett sites like these are therefore expected to have a long run time and the Internet swap-an-image file sharing market.
