This is one of reasons for so many failed and weak Christians in churches. A Christian who reads his bible regularly will be different from the rest of the crowd. He can be a true disciple of Christ.
The bible is the manual and guide from God. The Bible tells you what, when and how to live after you have repented and started a new life with God. You ignore it at your own peril.
2. Personal Prayer Time
Praying is a spiritual discipline. You determine and set a time to pray everyday. It is time alone with God. Jesus taught us to go into a room and shut the door. Shutting the door makes it very private with no interruptions. Being alone with God may be pretty uncomfortable if you are a fake. God is not looking for your religiosity. He is only interested in your transparency and sincerity.
God loves to listen to you. In a group you tend to impress others. Home Church can teach you how to pray alone. Most of the time you forget you are talking to God. So being alone is the best way to face God. You cannot impress him. You are an open book before God. You cannot hide your secret life before him. It is easier to impress and fake people.
So, meet God everyday alone to put your spiritual walk on the right track. Make a list of people to pray for. Pray less for you and more for others. God blesses you when you pray for others.
3. Personal Weekly Bible Study
Bible study is more of a study than a devotional. Study is in depths look at God and his character. In study you compare and research other passages to make sure you are not misinterpreting the scripture. This kind of study will improve and enhance your understanding of God. Study takes time. Set apart a block of time, like two or three hours in week. Weekend afternoons or mornings are excellent for working people. Gather different versions and translations of the bible along with some reference materials like concordances, dictionaries and commentaries. A home church can provide free resources for your study.
