Avoidable Banner Advertising and Marketing Mistakes

By: Orlando Local

Banner advertising is ancient in internet time, but it's still going strong and continues to make people a great deal of money each year. Most popular methods of advertising really don't have a lot on banners when it comes to ability to create targeted traffic. It's quite possible, and done every day, to to create incredible amounts of high quality traffic on a smaller budget than you would imagine. But you can hurt yourself if you jump into it without knowing the most efficient and profitable ways to approach it. Many people just decide to do their own thing and end up making mistakes that could have been easily avoided. In this article we shall be looking into a few banner advertising mistakes that you should stay away from at all costs.

Each banner ad serves one single function, and you have to be clear about that for your own campaign successes. One thing to never do is throw all caution to the wind and approach extremes in the name of being noticed, either. One of the consequences of loud banners is that many people simply ignore all of them. Therefore, keep the animation out, colors and design tasteful and reasonable - depending on your market, or course. If you don't tone it down, you'll end up having your audience ignore the ad; it's as simple as that. You want to give people information in a way that stirs their emotions and they want to know more. But in the end it is your market and how you need to speak to them that will determine the best design features of your banners.

Since you'll be exposed to a lot of traffic, you still must target your audience using your banner and avoid trying to get "all" the traffic. You can produce huge amounts of generic traffic with the right ads, but your happiness will be short-lived when you see how poorly general traffic converts. So if your mindset, and ad, are both wrong then of course you'll just be wasting your money. Bear in mind that you want to get high quality traffic to all your offers. That is why when you make your banners and write the copy, it needs to speak only to your market and no one else. When you bring the right people to your site, then you will be in the greatest position to profit from it. Before you get too involved with making banners, you should have done your research and found 'highly targeted' sites that receive the traffic you need.

You will be placing your banners on websites, duh, but you must stick to certain criteria if you want to make money - buying space on a site just because you love it is not the correct criterion. In order to be successful, you must remain within your niche because you want to get targeted traffic, right? Don't forget that you still must do your targeting with your banner copy, too. You want to do the thing often called finding your niche and getting in front of them with your offers - perfect way to look at it.

There is much more to banner advertising that you thought, and you should always expand your education. You'll be able to know more as you get experience, and it's a lot of fun too. It all depends on your mindset and the kind of strategy you're employing.
