Bible Study Letdown

By: Jason Evans

Christians all over the planet have the same reasons when it comes to why they do not take in any Bible study. Roughly all of them will say that they basically do not have the time for it. They do nonetheless have time to go online and surf the web, observe videos, gaze at TV, catch the game, and a grand number of other things. Bible study seems to take a back burner though.

Christians every so often fail to comprehend all of the tools accessible to them. For example, because they like to go online and surf the web they can even be able to do an online Bible study. There are Christian Bible studies on the television. Half time is a great moment in a ball game to pick your Bible up and study it.

Possibly on the other hand the trouble is not having no time to study the Bible. Possibly the sincere problem with Bible studies is our wish to attend to the word of God. For some reason we appear to have a big problem in this area. We would sooner belly up to the dinner table than get the word of God in our hearts. David in the Bible said that he desired the word of God more than his daily meal. May the same be said for us?

In all certainty very few of us have such a love for the word of God. As the years have gone by I asked for my part why this is. I may only come to two conclusions that make sense. Either we have studied the Bible to a point that we comprehend it very well and God is withholding more from us until we use what we have, or we are uncaring towards our God.

As for the first example I could see only one solution. It can be a horrible thing for somebody who loves God and desires His word to be in a condition where God will not give them more. Yet these same people, myself included, have grown fat off of the word of God and store it up to ourselves. The simplest way to get out of this place is to begin giving out what you already have. It is time for you to start teaching the word. Trust me that will drive you to get into the Bible and you will start to learn more.

For the second instance we appear to have a difficulty. Bible studies are not wanted cause the people could care less about what God states. That may sound tough but if you look at the certainty it could be ugly at times. Think of your walk with God as a relationship. Have you neglected it? How much time do you spend with God?

Many Christians swear up and down that they love God but spend no time with Him. That doesn’t appear like love to me. These are patty cake Christians. These are lukewarm. There is only one solution for them. They must fall in love with God. They could think they already are in love with Him but remember that love is an action.

So how do we fall in love with God? It is going to take spending time with Him and getting to know Him. First though it takes repentance. Beforehand we can be in a relationship with God we must accept the forgiveness He offers. That is the first step. The next step is repentance. Once you have in fact repented then God can fill you with love for Him.

What does repentance look like? It isn’t a straightforward prayer. Repentance is a changing of the mind. It is deciding you would rather follow God than enjoy sin. Once you do that forgiveness is given and you will love God much. Bible studies will come uncomplicated then because you will want to spend time with the one you love.
