Blockbuster Movies Coming Soon on DVD

By: Jessie Stone

A large number of the films slated for release this 2010 were either adaptations from books, graphic novels, comic books and the like, or sequels from established franchises. Yet original material managed to wheedle into the list, few though they may be, and even ended up as some of 2010's top box office performers. As 2010 comes to an end, many are looking forward to the many of the movies coming soon on DVD this December.
Here's a sneak peek of some of the movies coming soon on DVD for the month of December.
"Shrek Forever After"
With this fourth and final installment, the Shrek film series finally comes to an end after 9 years. In the final chapter of the Shrek series, everyone's favorite ogre Shrek (Mike Myers) is getting tired of being, well, everyone's favorite ogre. He longs for the good old glory days when he was feared by the villagers; when he was a "real ogre" instead of being the domesticated and celebrity ogre that he is now. He encounters a con artist named Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn) who offers him the opportunity to relive his real ogre ways for one day. Shrek jumps at the chance and ends up in a world where he is once again feared, Rumpelstiltskin is the new ruler of Far Far Away, and Shrek has been completely erased from the memory of his loved ones.
"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"
The popular "Twilight" series on the other hand released its third installment, "Eclipse" last June. In "Eclipse", Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) now have to deal with the complications of their relationship, most especially Bella's concern of being turned into an immortal vampire in order to be with Edward. And then there's the presence of werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) who also professes his love for Bella. To make things even more difficult, Bella and Edward have to contend with a growing army of newborn vampires who are bent on destroying Bella.
"Despicable Me"
All super villain Gru (Steve Carell) ever wants is to be the world's number one super villain again. Is that too much to ask? In a competitive world where upcoming villains are getting younger and richer, Gru has to come up with a way to reestablish himself as THE villain to beat by stealing the moon. He adopts three orphaned girls as part of his grand scheme, but ends up learning to genuinely care for them in the end.
"Inception"
Instead of asking who's ever heard of "Inception", you should wonder who hasn't heard of Christopher Nolan's latest film. The concept of the movie alone has sparked numerous debates among filmgoers who have thrown in their own interpretations of the movie. Dom Cobb (Leonard di Caprio) is the best extractor in the business. Along with his equally skilled team comprised of his point man Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), forger Eames (Tom Hardy), architect Ariadne (Ellen Page), chemist Yusuf (Dileep Rao), and their client Saito (Ken Watanabe), Cobb must pull the most challenging mission in his career: inception. Never been done before, inception entails Cobb and his team to go inside the dream of their target and planting an idea.
"Salt"
In the spy action thriller "Salt", Angelina Jolie plays the titular Evelyn Salt-a CIA agent who's accused of being part of a Russian operation aimed to destroy the United States. Distraught with the accusations, Salt goes on the run to clear her name. Also starring in the movie are Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, August Diehl, and Daniel Olbrychski.
