Check the small print on your ski holiday insurance.

By: Allision Kraft

Those who book ski chalets or chalet holidays in the Alps or Pyrenees - or any other ski resort for that matter - are guaranteed to have a great time, but because of the nature of skiing, there is always the possibility of suffering an injury during the chalet holidays. With this in mind it is important to have the correct insurance cover, and once you have arranged this make sure you check the small print on the policy. Last winter a British ski enthusiast took out what the thought was the best policy for his chalet holidays. However, when he read through the small print he discovered that in the event of him suffering an injury he would have to take a blood test, and if alcohol showed up in his system, the insurance would be void. As he pointed out during an interview on television news, a major element of booking ski chalets for a winter holiday is the social life which he and thousands of other enjoy each evening after the skiing is over. The chances are that, after a few drinks the previous evening, alcohol would still be in his system if he were to have an accident early in the morning, which would mean he would not be covered if he did break and arm or a leg.

This is just one thing to bear in mind if you are booking chalet holidays but hopefully you will have no need to use the insurance policy. The best thing to do is make sure you research your insurance companies and don’t be afraid to ask questions about the type of cover you are paying for. Once you have done this, you will be able to relax during your chalet holidays secure in the knowledge that you are fully covered.
