Digital Photography Secrets - Simple Methods to Enhance any Image

By: Wayne Turner

Because of digital cameras shooting photoshas never been as simple as the present. But, there's quite a distinction between shooting a photograph that is a truthful representation of a subject and creating something that is interesting. A couple of easy suggestions within the areas of composition, lighting or exposure will make it easier to improve your shots rapidly, easily and sometimes even dramatically.

Don't forget that while making an attempt to enhance your photography, do it in little bites. In the same way as the old adage states that you should eat an elephant. Simple steps to a goal will get you there more rapidly and simpler than trying to recollect everything at once and getting nowhere. A rational and systematic approach will help you work at each simple step, master it after which move on to the next. Don't forget though to evaluate along the way to see if you have learnt each step or if you need to revise.

Remember to take your time with each step and grasp it earlier than proceeding to the subsequent one. So here goes:

1. Every image needs a focal point

With out it the photograph is boring and uninteresting and does nothing for the person viewing it. You must get the viewer's attention and hold it, leading their watch into the photograph. Bear in mind the subject is number one. Without one is like a wedding missing a bride or a coronation without the queen.

2. Create a sense of depth in your photo by using a frame

For example, a gap within the wall of a broken down house, a window frame or a natural or man-made archway. Shoot through these objects focusing on a subject on the other side. Put a frame round the sides of your picture that draws the viewer into the shot.

3. If your photos are not good enough then you are most likely not near enough to your a point of focus.

Get in nearer. Use your feet to begin with after which if that's not possible, make use of your zoom. The closer you might be to the subject the greater the impact of the image. We tend to stay too far away from our subject thus incorporating an excessive amount of unnecessary clutter. If you want to remember people fill the photograph with them.

4. Before you press the shutter look for clutter

While looking through the viewfinder check the sides of your shot and observe if there's anything unnecessary you wish to exclude from the image. It may be easily eliminated by zooming slightly or walking in nearer or perhaps you may want to change your position or the angle. Find a way to exclude the cluttered edges and your image will improve a hundred times.

5. A more dynamic photograph can be produced by having diagonals running through the photograph.
