Does Raising Money Have to be Difficult?Fundraising Needn't be Arduous

By: Erik Conster

As a lot of people know, raising money is not always easy. Where do you start? What activity could be the highest earner?

The first priority of a fundraising organization is to set a financial goal. It's a good idea to work at generating the most money but each person in the group may have a particular time frame to finish. Establishing a goal helps everyone to see an end.

The quantity necessary will establish the event need. A few hundred dollars can be earned daily with a bake sale or a raffle although a larger sum may require a few events or a big and time consuming event.

Occasionally groups may defer a fundraising event because they lack volunteers or funds to get started, making raising money the remaining priority on their list. You can't put off fundraising until you are financially desperate. Select a few events to turn into an annual fundraising campaigns so everybody will know the event is on the calendar. This helps members who have busy schedules to plan early and it allows for donations or spread out budgeting.

While fundraising, always be mindful to keep fundraising time under control. Many event organizers make an error in judgment by extending the event, thinking that will boost their returns, when the opposite is true. For the best fundraiser results, try and keep a quick pace and liveliness. If you have a number of activities planned schedule them in increments so that the whole lot keeps moving, ending the event with the largest draw.

Planners should endeavor to gather various incentives for the volunteers. Keep in mind that the incentives might be a small gesture such as a "thank you bag" or even a key chain, pen, etc., as a reminder of the fundraiser but they can even be as generous as a hard cash gift or paid trip for the highest earning helper.

Keep in mind that a volunteer and supporter database ought to be maintained so that subsequent fundraiser events will be less work and easier.
