Home Church Can Make The Difference Between Transformed Or Conformed?

By: Robert Fenn

We often forget why we do certain things. The home church teaches us to stop and ask, 'Why am I doing this?' Christians should ask, 'why am I a Christian?' We are Christians because Christ transformed us. Therefore, we have only two options.
Either behave as transformed or remain conformed.
The world is crooked, shady, and bound for hell. God loved the world so much that he gave a costly solution through his son. We can escape the corruption by behaving like the son. This behavior change is a process and takes time and a home church is the only place to develop this.
How does this process work? It is a two-part process, body, and mind.
The Body
The body is the outer man, the vehicle for the inner man. The body dictates to the inner man and can completely over power him through its lusts and greed.
There has to a deliberate attempt on our part to command the body and take full control. The only way you can do it is to surrender the body to God. The home church can help us practice the only possible and reasonable way to worship God. More over it has to be living sacrifice.
Living sacrifice means voluntary giving up of something. We have to show a deliberate and decisive action to prove that. Food, sleep, pleasure may be areas we need to work on.
Even experienced Christians have struggles in this area. Once you bring the body to such a submission, it is easier for the mind to go through its transforming process. The home church makes it easy for us through fellowship.
Mind
The mind knows only the former life, to conform to the world. It only knows to behave according to the norms of the society. It is against God's viewpoint. We cannot any more follow the standards of the world's ethics or morality.
Only transformed mind can know God's will. This knowledge will bring the will of God, which is good, acceptable, and pleasing. Your home church can help you walk in the light as God is in the light.
The body and mind work together towards a common goal of transformation. It is through mutual and beneficial sacrifices. It is hard but simple.
It is also a daily discipline. Do it on a daily basis. Jesus said if you want to follow me take up the cross follow me daily. This is on basis of the mercies of God. Not demanding or ordering but pleading to be a living sacrifice. A home church can teach and help you to work His will in and through you.
