How The Bible Helps Christian Marriages

By: Jason Evans

In the planet in our day Christian marriages are under assault like never before. The separation rate of Christians has no distinction than that of those who do not claim The lord. This is shocking to many because the Scripture says that God hates putting away your spouse. Yet we see the divorce rate among Christian marriages to be in such elevated numbers.

The discrepancy between the marriages of Christians and others needs to be distinguished. That discrepancy is the truth that Christian marriage advice comes from the Bible while other marriage advice comes from physiologists that can or may not lean on the word of God. The merely authentic difference you will ever find in a Christian marriage is that Christians are expected to follow what the Bible states.

The sad truth however is that Christians often do not follow what the Scripture states. This is due to a number of things. The first trouble we must address is the actual salvation of each partner. The Bible states that not everyone who calls on God is a Christian. Since of this we can know that numerous marriages that claim to have Christian beliefs are not in truth practicing Christians at all.

A authentic Christian is going to have a love for the Scripture. That means they not merely study the Bible but they also put it into practice. This alone may end all divorces in Christian marriages. The simply advice I give you is to follow the Christian marriage advice in the Scripture. If you do that your marriage will not at all fall. I could say that cause the bible says that love never fails.

So with us now accepting that not everybody who says they are a Christian is we need to gaze at another area. It takes being in agreement to walk together down the same road. The Bible makes it clear that we are not to be unequally yoked. That means one of us can not go in one track while the other goes another way.

In the case of one Christian yoked to somebody who is not a Christian the Bible does have somewhat to declare. The first thing it states is that you are not to try to find a way out. Many people have used this unequal yoke thing as an excuse to divorce but the Bible makes it unmistakable that you should not do so. Instead you should try to keep peace as finest you can.

Let me be clear also that you are not to follow your spouse rather than God. That means if one partner wants to do something that is a sin you do not need to join them. If in the end this causes your partner to demand a separation then you are free from your vows…but you are not to seek being free.

One other area of being unequally yoked that is often ignored is the roles in Christian marriages. You can not have two leaders. It is merely natural that at some time you will quarrel with each other. This causes many fights in the homes of those who are not Christians and in homes of Christians alike. It should not be so in your home though.

This is why God has made the roles of marriage to be a husband as the leader. Women may frequently feel like their man is not taking up that role as he should but it is not their place to take that role on themselves. This is something the Bible teaches that will also cause peace in your Christian marriage.
