Cochlear implants are sadly, still very expensive, as it is still a very new technology that has not scaled yet. Scientist and medical professionals are waiting for a new form of hearing treatment called gene therapy. A person doesn't have to worry about bulky hearing aids anymore, as gene therapy may one day allow people to grow new body parts. While it may sound easy in writing, gene therapy is complex and is still being developed.

Prevention is the best medicine when it comes to hearing impairment but sometimes there is nothing a person can do but live with hearing treatments. A specialist trained in the various aspecs of hearing treatment is the only way to know which hearing treatment should be used. It is hard to imagine a life without hearing.
