Learn Banner Advertising Errors From Others Before You Make Them

By: Orlando Local

There are a number of excellent methods for marketing your offers, and banner advertising is certainly one of them. Like all else, you have to know how to approach it, and when you do you can create incredible amounts of high quality traffic. Proceeding without knowledge will severely handicap you, and you'll make mistakes even with the right knowledge. Of course there will be monetary losses which no one likes to see. Even highly experienced IM marketers commit the occasional blunder. Very many newer marketers have yet to hone their market research skills, and unfortunately that leads to costly errors and mistakes. This article will elaborate on three often-seen mistakes in banner ad campaigns, and you'll know how to avoid them in your own.

It's pretty easy to get caught-up with making a great looking banner with great banner copy, and then you aren't really thinking about the site you're sending traffic to. Forget how great people will think your banner is, they don't care; if they click will the promise you made in your banner be kept is what they're thinking. It's just that you need to deliver the goods that you mentioned on your banner. After they click through, if you have not delivered on your basic promise, then they are gone forever and will never return. It's a pretty stupid simple concept, but people make this mistake - and now you know how to avoid it.

Avoid being rude with your banner at all times because it just flat out never works. You'll end up irritating your prospects and earning their ire, which is the last thing you want. The way to avoid doing that is by avoiding any progamming cuteness that causes things to move around in your banner, or blink, flash, or whatever. One thing you can do, if you insist on doing this is to include something that can be clicked on to make it stop or go away.

Also, you can't just make any size ads because sites have certain specs; plus you must know the details about all your ads such as dimensions, etc. We're sure you don't want to take time out of your day just to check your banner sizes because you don't have it on hand. When you're shopping for places to place your banners, this is the kind of information you'll need to have on hand. Keep your banners compliant and expressed in IAB standards, and that will prevent any misunderstandings.

In some ways banner advertising is a lot like other kinds because you have to test, track, analyze data and so on. You won't be assuming as much risk like you do with something like PPV or PPC advertising. These tips are quite valuable, but they are not the whole story - you'll need to learn more.
