MDAI what is it and what are its effects ? Effects Of MDAI What's MDAI and how can it have an effect on you

By: Jeff Stevens

5,6-Methylenedioxy-2-aminoindane (MDAI) is really a drug produced in the 1990s by a group directed by David E. Nichols at Purdue University. It operates as some sort of non-neurotoxic and a highly selective serotonin releasing chemical (SSRA) in vitro and generates mild entactogen results in human beings.

Chemistry

The actual chemical composition of MDAI is undoubtedly indirectly derived from that of the illicit drug MDA, but the alpha-methyl group of the alkylamino amphetamine side chain has been bound back to the benzene nucleus to form an indane ring system, which changes its pharmacological properties substantially.

Effects

The family of drug treatments typified by MDMA develop their side effects through multiple mechanisms of action inside the body, and consequently generate three distinct cues which animals can be trained to respond to: a stimulant cue typified by drugs such as methamphetamine, a hallucinogen cue typified by medications such as LSD and DOM, and an "entactogen-like" cue which is produced by drugs this kind of as MDAI and MBDB. These drug treatments cause drug-appropriate responses in animals qualified to recognize the side effects of MDMA, but do not create responses in animals qualified selectively to respond to stimulants or hallucinogens. Since these compounds selectively release serotonin from the brain but have little effect on dopamine or noradrenaline levels, they can produce empathogenic effects but with out any stimulant action, instead being somewhat

Use in scientific investigation

MDAI and other similar prescription drugs have been widely employed in scientific research, as they are able to replicate several of the effects of MDMA, but with out causing the neurotoxicity which may perhaps be associated with MDMA and some related drugs
