My Canon Powershot A1100 Review - A First-class Compact Camera

By: John Oakshire

Originally I was hesitant to compose a Canon Powershot A1100 review. I have had a digital camera for a while but have never felt comfortable with it. It has many buttons and when I want to take a picture I can never remember what they all do. The other thing that has irritated me is that because I don’t make use of the camera much, it feels that each time I need to use it the battery is flat.

When I initially picked up the Canon I thought that this would be similar but initial impressions were misleading. I was delighted to see that it uses normal AA batteries. When I was evaluating the camera I used rechargeable batteries but I knew that if they did go flat I could easily buy new batteries anywhere or borrow some from a remote control.

I again doubted how positive this Canon Powershot A1100 Review may turn out when I spotted the buttons on the top of the camera. Happily I soon grasped that one is merely the power on/off, one the shutter release with a ring outside it for the zoom and one is to pick the various pre-set modes that are offered.

Always the pessimist I next checked out the flipside of the camera and spotted a series of controls with two labels and thought that this was the place it would get complicated. Fortunately in next to no time I understood that they accomplish different things if the camera is in shooting mode or playback mode. I was pleased to find that you can also set the camera to work fully automatically, thus you really simply have to point and click. Still better, the pictures it creates are very good.

The last obstacle to take into account for my Canon Powershot A1100 review was the software package that was supplied with the camera. On occasion setting up and using software is not as simple as you could expect but in this instance I had no problems.

So my trial of the Canon Powershot A1100 has changed my quite negative view of digital photography. I found it straightforward to use and it has the capability to be just point-and-click or to facilitate the user more control. Without doubt the prime factor in assessing a camera ought to be the quality of the photos it produces and in this the Canon does not disappoint. The color reproduction is good and detail is sharp.

So if you are in need of a feature rich, easy to use, point-and-click digital camera then I hope that this short Canon Powershot A1100 review has revealed that it should be high on your list.
