SIA Licence clamp down - Sanctuary Industry Authority clamps down on rogue door staff working for the London pubs and club.

Last week, 12 venues in the Hackney were visited by Security Industry Authority investigators and 41 individuals inspected. Of those, 39 held valid SIA licences. All the action across most of the borough of Hackney was all the last stage on the a three month police-led pilot campaign targeting rogue door staff working inside pubs and clubs while in the three London boroughs, Camden, Lambeth and Hackney.

A door supervisor was arrested and charged with fraud after for being found working illegally in your a fake SIA licence at a club documented in Old Street inside the weekend. As well as the many individual working of starting a fake licence, a security director was identified who did not hold many of the non front-line SIA licence required if deploying safety staff. This is now to become investigated within a SIA.

A further five door staff were issued with warnings for failing to notify many of the SIA among the change of address, and one was given a warning for failing to display an SIA licence whilst on duty.

The police also closed a Shoreditch bar thanks to poor management, breaches with the premises licence conditions and overcrowding.

For the three-month initiative, Refuge Industry Authority investigators supported officers with the Metropolitan Police’s SCD9 unit with checking venues with the Camden, Lambeth and Hackney boroughs to make sure that they have been adhering to licensing regulations, something like door staff holding and displaying valid SIA licences – a requirement by law.

With the total, 156 individuals were inspected at licensed premises across the whole three boroughs. Police sent two door supervisors home for working illegally and 20 warnings were issued for breaching licensing conditions.

SIA Head of Investigation Jacquie Parker said: “This campaign will need been very successful. All the public deserve and should expect to see only trained, qualified and SIA-licensed door staff working to cause it to a safe environment at pubs and clubs. We will be subsequent up of a issues found during these operations and I look forward to working of beginning a Metropolitan Police of starting a future.”
