Suggestions for christian church growth

By: Jason Evans

Face it, church growth is the first thing on the mind of numerous churches. The question is often how does your church develop? Is there an outreach program that can work well for you? Should your members be doing more? A lot of questions come up when you start thinking about this.

Some of the finest tips for church growth I have ever heard begin with examination. If you hope your church to gain numbers then it is imperative to know what could be causing it to lack in numbers right now. There may be a number of things that require to be worked on.

Take some time to in fact get the bottom of why your church is not currently growing. Often you will find that there are only not enough visitors. Other times you could find that those visitors are not joining. So get this information now.

Lets assume your church is missing visitors. One way to change this is by providing the members with small business cards that have invites to your church. This will aid get your church members involved in outreach. It will also give people the notion that they should visit only from getting a personal invite.

While business cards are straightforward and cheap to use there are also other ways to get visitors. How would you feel about a church if a member from it handed you a cold bottle of water on a hot summer day? You can have good feelings about it. This would make you more out to visit their church because you already have decent feelings about it.

That is what we call servant evangelism. It may be a powerful tool for church growth. Never underestimate it. Try to find other ways to give the community a good quality vibe about your church and you will break walls down that keep some people from your doors.

Now lets pretend the real reason for your church not growing is not a lack of visitors. Perhaps it is a lack of returning visitors? Getting people into the church is one thing but if they do not stay you have done nothing. So now we want to think of ideas to change this.

Why do most people not stay at a church? They do not feel connected to it. Small groups could connect people like nothing else. Make sure they get an invite to join in on a group meeting. This may go a long way to keeping them around.

You may also need to merely inquire in a non-threatening way why some visitors did not come back. When you get a visitor that gave their address to you but did not keep coming then make use of their information. Send them letters letting them know that your church wants to learn and develop. Ask them what they liked and did not like. Find out why they did not return.

Once you have this information you could begin to make changes that are needed. Once those changes are made you should see your visitors staying. If not then there is more going on. Make sure you get to the bottom of it and correct it.
