Wedding planners in panic mode

By: Rutland Savour

Wedding planners and wedding venues up and down the country are said to be bracing themselves for a tirade of brides worried about their big day.

Although wedding planners are actually hired to take the stress out of planning a wedding day, it is expected that a lot of brides who are planning to get married next year may find themselves competing with a certain royal wedding.

As Prince William and Kate Middleton plan their wedding day, wedding venues and wedding planners are worried that some planned days may clash with the royal event.

The actual date and venue is yet to be finalised, although Kate was spotted exiting from Westminster Abbey earlier this week.

Nevertheless, an article in The Express suggests that until a day and venue is fixed by the royal couple, brides planning their own event will be worried their day- and venue could clash with William and Kate’s day.

Speaking to The Express, Geraldine Sweetland from the Love & Lord wedding planning company said it could be a tricky time for many couples planning to get hitched.

She told the paper: “You could wait to hear what date they are getting married but run the risk that your ideal venue is booked up by them.”

Even if couples still manage to get their ideal venue, they may still run the risk of the days clashing. If that is the case, she suggests checking ahead at the venue that there will be no televisions present.

She added: “You have to trust that your guests would rather be looking at you than William and Kate.”

According to the paper, one woman who met Prince Charles by chance earlier this week, begged him to ask William to keep 18 June free as her daughter is getting married then. It is reported he said he would pass the request on to the couple.
