Work At Home Mums: Limbic System and Positive Thinking To Get What You Want.

Have you heard about the influence of positive thinking, but perhaps are not convinced enough to attempt it for yourself? I will discuss the 'mechanics' of positive thinking and the way it impacts on emotions, and consequently our actions, because for those of us work at home mums with an investigative mind, it usually helps to understand a concept at the outset prior to having faith in its validity and applying associated approaches successfully!

To explain how thinking positively impacts on our minds and behaviours can't be done without a special mention about the limbic system, which commands our mood and feelings, but also plays an important role in attention and motivation. The limbic system, also referred to as the 'emotional brain', is responsible for our drives, and the more intensely we feel about achieving or resisting something, the more definite our motivation will be. Whilst our emotions and feelings emerge from the limbic system, the neocortex manages our speech, decision-making, planning, and imaginative thinking. There is constant communication between the limbic system and the neocortex, and together they shape our beliefs and behaviours.

I've recently heard the limbic system being referred to as a 2 year old child. This comparison was used for the reason that the limbic system, just like a toddler, has lacking judgment between wrong and right, believes good and bad thoughts have the same value,, and acts upon any data it receives as being genuine and real. Here is where it become interesting. Behaviours are caused or influenced by emotions. Those feelings are generated by your limbic system, who is behaving just like a 2-year old and making no critical assessment on the data it has received! Many work at home mums reading this might already have ideas on how to use this to their advantage! Put simply, you can manipulate the information you dispatch to your limbic system for it to drive the productive emotions you must have to attain your ambitions.

Your subconscious mind will act on bad thoughts and good thoughts in a similar fashion. We have ready access to our thoughts, and consequently we are able to supply our limbic system with constructive thoughts, making it create positive emotions. Knowing this, can you see what occurs when work at home mums feel empowered, self-assured, focused, energised, relaxed, optimistic and happy? They conduct themselves accordingly and impact on their environment in a way that helps them produce the results they seek. The more you repeat good things to your mind the more it will change, the more your behaviours will change, the more your outcomes will change, and the more your life will change.

Creating positive and productive emotions can be a simple exercise, as simple as using visualisation or positive affirmations. There are a few tips work at home mums should remember when using these techniques: 1. Be consistent - practice visualisation or positive affirmation daily; 2. Use precise and measurable goals in your affirmations; 3. Use the present tense, say it as though it is happening right now; 4. Statements should be focused on the positive (i.e. 'I am full of energy' as opposed to 'I am not tired'). You can also use different tools, such as visualisation audios or videos or written affirmation cards posted around the house. If you search on the internet, you can also find ready-made affirmations about many subjects, such as self-esteem, creating abundance, wellbeing, love, etc and achieve the results you desire in your personal development or work from home business.
